Junaid Ahmed Palak, former Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, was hiding in a room in Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan area after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned under pressure from students and common people. He was later taken into custody by the army while trying to escape abroad. His wife and children left the country before the fall of the government. Palak apologized to his constituents on August 2 and attempted to resign, but was convinced otherwise by PM Sheikh Hasina and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
