Despite an ongoing student movement against discrimination in Bangladesh, import and export via Hili Land Port remains uninterrupted. The increased imports have led to a decrease in the price of green peppers in the country's market. Last Saturday, 22 Indian trucks imported 206 metric tons of green pepper through Hili land port in a single day. The price of green chillies has been reduced from Tk 200 per kg to Tk 160 per kg due to increased imports. However, some domestic raw chilies are still being sold at the same price. The reason for the decrease in green pepper prices is said to be the destruction of green pepper flowers due to continuous rain for several days.
