First Case of Deadly Mpox Strain Confirmed in Pakistan

Pakistan reported its first mpox case, a 34-year-old man who recently returned from a Gulf country. This particular strain, Clade 1, is more lethal and has recently caused outbreaks in various African countries. Since May 2023, the World Health Organization has identified 15,000 mpox cases and 500 deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the outbreak is centered.
