Students from the International Relations Department at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) have taken to social media to expose a disturbing incident involving Professor Khaled Imran. According to the students, Professor Imran was targeted after discussing historical injustices during a class, drawing parallels to the current political climate in Bangladesh. The son of a former MP and the daughter of a Lieutenant General, both influential figures within the university, allegedly spearheaded a campaign to silence the professor.

The incident began on March 6, 2022, when Professor Imran’s comments during a lecture sparked a backlash from student Samiuzzaman Sami, whose father was an MP, and Zarifa Binte Alam, the daughter of a high-ranking military official. Following this, Professor Imran was summoned by the university administration, leading to the formation of an investigation committee. Despite initial support from students, the committee was allegedly manipulated by Zarifa and Sami, who used their family connections to influence the process.

The investigation, marked by coercion and intimidation, concluded with a forced confession against Professor Imran. Students have revealed that military officers were brought in to pressure witnesses, and statements were altered under duress. The case has raised serious concerns about academic freedom at BUP, exposing the deep-seated power dynamics that threaten the integrity of educational institutions in Bangladesh.
