A World Bank delegation met with Bangladesh's Energy Advisor to discuss a request for $1 billion in budget support to address the country's $2.2 billion foreign exchange liability in power and energy imports. The new government has suspended previous laws that allowed for electricity and energy price fixes and has pledged to adhere to Public Procurement Acts. The World Bank has expressed willingness to consider the proposal, with the country director praising the government's commitment to reforms.
