Jatiya Party Chief Anwar Hossain Manju Arrested in Dhaka

Anwar Hossain Manju, chairman of Jatiya Party and former minister in several Bangladeshi governments, has been arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police in Dhaka. Manju, who has been a Member of Parliament for six consecutive terms since 1986, was apprehended on Monday, September 2, in Dhanmondi. There are five cases pending against him. Before entering politics, Manju served as the editor of Daily Ittefaq between 1972 and 1975. His father, Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, was a renowned politician and the founder of Dainik Ittefaq.
