President of UAE Pardons 57 Bangladeshi Prisoners Previously Sentenced in Quota Reform Protest

In a recent act of clemency, President Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates pardoned 57 Bangladeshi citizens who were previously convicted in the Emirati courts for protesting in solidarity with the quota reform movement. The prisoners, including three individuals sentenced to life imprisonment and 53 others given 10-year terms, are set to be repatriated to Bangladesh, as announced by Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh on Tuesday, September 3.
