The Gaza Health Ministry reported that 81 people were killed in the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 46,788 since the conflict began over 15 months ago. A ceasefire deal, mediated by Qatar and the United States, was announced to take effect on Sunday. The agreement includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners to establish terms for ending the war permanently but tensions remain high as both sides accuse each other of backtracking on the agreement. Israel accused Hamas of reneging on parts of the deal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated the cabinet would delay its approval until Hamas fully agrees to the terms. Hamas denied the accusations, and negotiations are continuing under pressure. The war has caused immense destruction in Gaza, with thousands of civilian casualties. While some celebrate the potential ceasefire, others mourn the heavy losses.
