Today is Friday, a holiday with schools, colleges, and institutions closed, and lighter traffic on the roads but Dhaka still ranks as the world's most polluted city, according to air quality monitoring organization AQIAIR. At 8:20 am, Dhaka recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 251, placing its air quality in the "very unhealthy" category. Kolkata, India, ranked second with a score of 240, while Hanoi, Vietnam, and Mumbai, India, followed in third and fourth places, respectively, with similarly hazardous air conditions. An AQI score between 0–50 is considered "good," while scores between 201–300 fall under the "very unhealthy" category. Any score above 300 is deemed "hazardous." Despite reduced activity in Dhaka, the city's air quality continues to pose serious health risks.
