The attack on minority students during a peaceful protest in Motijheel has shocked many. To make matters worse, police used force the next day on protesters who were simply asking for justice. While the government quickly condemned the attack and arrested two suspects, the use of violence against peaceful protesters has raised serious concerns. In times like this, when minorities feel unsafe, the government must do more to protect them and show that intolerance has no place in our country. Bangladesh must be a land where no one fears violence because of their identity. Justice must be served, both for those who attacked the students and for those who used unnecessary force against protesters.
